The Warriors

When I see our flag flying outside in the wind,

I think of my nephew (and now my son-in-law too!) who are the best our country will send.

To lands abroad and foreign shores,

To protect our freedoms and so much more.

They believe in this country and are willing to take a stand,

Because that is what men do to protect their land.

They leave their families behind with tears,

To ensure that we have the boundless freedoms here.

The freedom to speak and to hear what others say,

The freedom to worship in our own way.

The freedom to give to others in need,

The freedom to start over and plant new seeds.

Like so many others who have laid down their life,

This country is worth preserving through all of the strife.

Let’s work together to remedy the situation,

So that our kids and their kids will still have a nation.
