As Easter comes and spring arrives,

I thank God for being alive.

He has allowed me to breathe another day,

How many I have? It is impossible to say.

God, thank you for the gift of breath,

And thank You for conquering death.

I know we cant see the full story,

But I want to do my part to give You glory.

You have shown up for me time and time again,

Whether through nature, family, or a good friend.

You have shown me I am never alone,

And that I don't have to face life’s hurdles on my own.

I now know too well what it means to look death in the eye.

The fear,  the anxiety, the late night cry.

But knowing you lived and overcame death,

Gives me hope and joy as I take each breath.

This world can blind us to the spiritual battles that rage,

The enemy does everything to keep us “caged.”

I ask that in Your power You open our eyes

So that we may know You better, the ultimate prize.

For in You our souls can find freedom from vice,

Your blood on the cross paid that sacred price.

It was Your love for us on that dark day,

Hard to comprehend, what more can we say?

Help our hard hearts to understand.

What it means to rest in Your hands.

You only want to help us make sense of it all,

As we have been messed up since the fall.

Let this Easter be more than dressing up and looking the part.

Help us look deeper into what is driving our heart.

God, remove the many barriers one by one,

So that our hearts finally find peace through Jesus, Your Son.
