We say we want to go deeper,

But what does that really mean?

Isn’t it easier to stay here in the present,

And leave certain parts unseen?

We don’t want your story or to hear the truth,

What good is looking back on our regrets from youth?

It is definitely safer in the here and now,

This much we know to be true.

However, this presents a roadblock,

From finding the “real” you.

Our core essence,

The one God created in us to shine,

Has gotten lost along the way,

And overshadowed by the ravages of time.

We have put on masks and taken on roles,

To help assuage the pain.

But deep down we know that there are still layers,

that only Jesus can tame.

We really don’t want to go there,

but we know we must.

But the question then becomes ,

who can you really trust?

The only one is Jesus,

Who has been there all along.

He has held you, and cried with you,

And has given you a song.

He wants nothing more ,

than for you to see,

The amazing gifts within you

That have been hidden by the Enemy.

Yes, the deep is where the beauty is,

It is there that you will find.

Jesus there in the midst of the pain

Saying “Child I love you and you are forever mine”

But now thus says your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you O Israel, "Do not fear for I have redeemed you. You are mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you." Isaiah 43:1-7
