Days

When I think of all the ways,

And I think of all my days,

I know I will be fine,

because You have shown up every time.

In all of the laughter and days of fun,

And watching the moon hiding the sun.

You have shown me You are so near,

And that I have nothing to fear.

Through days of heartache and despair,

When wondering if You are truly there.

You have drawn me close and let me obtain,

Glimpses of You in the midst of the rain.

Yes, You are in control

In this tapestry we call life.

Yet we often believe this is the only plan,

And we strive to get all that we can.

Open our eyes and soften our core,

Allow us to see that there is so much more!

You created us to be Free, and to play a role,

Yet the enemy snuck in and poisoned our soul.

Truth has now became much dimmer,

And harder to observe.

It is much easier to take, take, take,

And more difficult to serve.

We keep ourselves busy and distracted,

In every way that we can.

Because to look backwards, we believe,

Would crater our plans.

It is the paradox of life,

That to move forward and follow the truth,

Requires us to look back

To those pains from our youth.

It has been a journey for me,

but Jesus has healed and dried the tears.

To all the misconceptions of Him,

That I held for so many years.

When we power down to be still,

Easier said than done in the end.

We will find Him waiting for us,

Wanting to be our friend.

So lets take our masks off,

As our days here decrease.

So that we can be honest with God,

And finally find true and lasting peace.
